A group of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss the plight of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The main objective of the meeting was to address Prabowo’s directive for ministers to come up with solutions for the affected workers. Among the attendees were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
Prasetyo underscored the president’s deep concern for the welfare of the workers and stressed the pressing need to resolve the challenges faced by PT Sritex after its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The aim is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new work scheme in the textile industry. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s diligent efforts in ensuring that former Sritex employees could potentially be rehired within the next two weeks.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s unwavering commitment to offer support and guidance is poised to bring relief to the PT Sritex employees impacted by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively working to safeguard the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive appropriate layoff compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is presently in the process of vetting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a fresh scheme, which is expected to pave the way for the reemployment of the laid-off workers. This strategic move aims to bring stability to the affected employees and provide a resolution to their current predicament.
